Kimi Raikkonen Ready To Rally in 2010

Kimi Raikkonen had prospects for a great year in Formula 1 for 2010. After stepping in as team leader after Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa’s injury in 2009, he ended the season ranked number seven. So his departure from the Ferrari team was surprising to many Raikkonen fans, though polls indicated Ferrari fans preferred neither him nor Massa for the team in 2010.

The break with Ferrari left Raikkonen’s future in Formula 1 in doubt. The only openings were on teams whose cars he did not prefer or those offering contracts far less valuable than he was used to receiving. Fans were on tenterhooks until Raikkonen signed with Citroen. Raikkonen joined the Citroen Junior Rally Team driving a Red Bull-sponsored Citroen C4. The move solidified his commitment to rally racing, a hobby he pursued while driving for Ferrari, completing three rally races with his rally partner Kaj Lindstrom in 2009.

Raikkonen’s presence on the WRC circuit means the 2010 racing season should be even more exciting for rally fans. Dedicated Raikkonen fans will no doubt be traveling far and wide to see him compete in rallies on snow, sand and tarmac. The rally circuit spans Europe, Asia and Mexico and the rallies are often in remote locations. Hardcore rally fans need mobile accommodations to keep up with the action in 2010. A great way to follow the action is to use the same accommodations the racers do, motorhomes.

Motorhomes give racing fans the advantage of being able to travel to remote race destinations without worrying where they will sleep or that they will have to rough it in campgrounds. Rally racers and others accustomed to grand accommodations depend on high quality motorhomes to keep them near the action in comfort. Though most motorhome rental business comes from racers, some fans have discovered that they can enjoy the same comforts as their idols and miss none of the racing action.

Kimi Raikkonen has something of a learning curve to overcome in his first season on the WRC. However, in six short years, he rose from absolute beginner to Formula 1 champion, so fans expect great things from Raikkonen as he gains more rally experience. Raikkonen fans should be looking at the 2010 WRC calendar and planning which rallies to attend so they miss none of what is sure to prove an exciting year for Kimi Raikkonen.
